Q: Is there a way to extend the length of the top handle in order to operate the camera off the back of the setup?

Yes, we offer straight extension pieces as well as angled extension pieces so that the handle can be extended over the back of the battery.

Q: The fan on my Alexa Mini battery plate is acting erratically. What is the issue?

Some fan issues were prevalent in older versions of the battery plate and need to be serviced by us. Please contact our service department by emailing service@tilta.com.

Q: I want to use an external source to power the camera. Can I use power supplies that are 24V?

No you can’t. The power input port on the cage can handle a maximum voltage of 14.8V.

Q: On my gold mount battery plate-fitted cage, when I touch the battery while the camera is powered on, the whole system shuts down. What’s wrong?

We’ve designed our gold mount battery plates using Anton Bauer’s Dionic batteries as the standard for the size of the gold mount stud mounting holes. Unfortunately there isn’t an industry-wide standard for the size of these studs so your batteries might be slightly different in size compared to how we’ve designed the plate, causing it to move enough while mounted to shut down your camera. We recommend using different gold mount batteries.

Q: How many Amps of power does the cage provide?

Each individual port on the cage provides up to 3 Amps of power. However, the back module of each cage can provide up to 7 Amps total between all ports while the top plate and top handle together can provide up to 8 Amps total between all ports.

Q: The 3-pin R/S ports on the cage aren’t triggering the camera. What’s wrong?

The R/S functionality needs to be transferred to the camera cage from the camera body through the Alexa Mini’s EXT port. The cable to do this is the 7-pin to 7-pin EXT cable, which is included in the Camera Cage for Alexa Mini.

Q: What is the warranty for this product?

All of our products offer a 1-year warranty for electrical issues and a 2-year warranty for mechanical issues. A proof of purchase is required to have the warranty honored. We still service products that are out of warranty or have human error issues but we charge for the parts and labor of the repair (cost depends on the specific issue).
